On-Board-Diagnostics(OBD Port)

Nowadays we were in search of the technologies that can make our daily lives easy and comfortable and that could be met when dealing with cars (automobiles )too.
On-Board Diagnostics is an automotive a term referring to a vehicle's self-diagnostic and reporting capability.Obd systems give the vehicle owner or repair technician access to the status of the various vehicle subsystems. The amount of diagnostic information available via OBD has varied widely since its introduction in the early 1980's versions of onboard vehicle computers, but it was not being used by many .generally many high-end cars have them inbuilt but the ones that do not own them could make their car smart with this small thing.
.
Early versions of OBD would simply illuminate a malfunction indicator light or "idiot light" if a problem was detected but would not provide any information as to the nature of the problem.Modern implementations use a standard digital communications port to provide real-time data in addition to standardized series of diagnostic trouble codes, or DTC's, which allow one to rapidly identify and remedy malfunctions within the vehicle.

and this could be monitored using apps
they include all the things from
1.Lock&Unlock
2.Lights on and off
3.Side mirror adjustment
4.Speed monitoring
and much more

This is mainly controlled using API that can be used from a smart phone connected via a mode of connectivity which is supported by the OBD port that is being used.

This really provides a beautiful user interface and many app makers including the famous carmakers are involved in making this more user friendly. So we can say for sure this is going to change the way we use technology and add many more interesting things to our automobiles.
This was even taken to a next level in the form of IOT(Internet Of things).
